A Guide to the SCT Conference

If you're new to SCT Conferences, here's a short "map" of the offerings. You can also contact SCT trainer Susan Cassano (susancassano@sbcglobal.net) or member  Linda Solomon Scott (lscott1244@yahoo.com) for advice on which events are most likely to meet your goals, given your particular interests and experience with SCT. Everyone new to the conference will be offered a "buddy" who is familiar with SCT and the Conference as a resource for questions, suggestions, etc.

Now, for an Overview:

The conference consists of a weekend Pre-Conference Institute followed by the Five-Day Conference. You can attend either or both.

There are Foundation, Intermediate, Advanced and Open to All training events. These levels reflect the SCT training curriculum. As a first-timer, choose Foundation tracks or Open to All events. You can also choose Clinical, Organizational Development, SAVI, Research, Theory & Basics, Education or General Interest content tracks in the afternoons of the Five-Day Conference.

Pre-Conference Weekend Institute:

The weekend institute provides an intensive training experience and an excellent introduction to systems-centered training.  The institute offers attendees an opportunity to learn about themselves, systems and groups in the unique environment built through SCT techniques.  Read more...

The Five-Day Conference:

The conference has three main components: the morning training sessions, afternoon workshops, and a large group meeting that runs throughout the conference. Read more...

Large Group: This 90-minute conference-as-a-whole practicum starts the conference on Sunday evening and ends it on Friday afternoon. Meeting at the end of each day (except Wednesday), the large group explores the conference experience using functional subgrouping.

Morning Training Sessions: The early morning program includes training groups at the Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced levels that meet each morning, Monday through Friday. The late morning program includes the popular Drop-In Groups that are open to anyone (90-minute sessions that focus on theory or a particular skill). Intermediate and advanced members can participate in groups focusing on leadership training, skills training, container training or consultation. Read more...

Afternoon Workshops: These two-hour workshops are open to all training levels and focus on applying systems-centered theory and methods in various contexts. In addition to your usual opportunity to sample workshops that look interesting, you can "specialize" by choosing to follow an organizational development, clinical, research, education, SAVI, theory & basics, or general track. The training tracks are specified in the program schedule.  You also have Linda Solomon Scott (lscott1244@yahoo.com) or Susan Cassano (susancassano@sbcglobal.net) to consult about what events are most likely to meet your goals, given your particular interest and experience with SCT. Read more...

Special events: The Monday night dinner is an SCT conference tradition that offers attendees time to socialize, make new friends, and reconnect with old ones. A Silent Auction will be held during the conference with proceeds going to the Yvonne Agazarian Research Scholar Fund. A Thursday Night Party at the host hotel, sponsored by SCTRI, will offer food, fun, a cash bar, prizes and dancing. Read More...
